Project Beauty~Giving Back
I was very excited to be taking part in a special movement along with 300+ photographers nationwide this past summer. We are redefining "true beauty." This is something I have had in my heart for a while now. Too often society and peers tell us what beauty and perfection is. There is so much pressure and negativity out there with our teens. Many struggle with depression, eating disorders, suicidal attempts, bullying etc. This movement according to photographer Thomas Nguyen is "to be able to free these girls from the idea of perfection and empower them to not only feel confident about themselves, but to embrace the flaws that make them uniquely beautiful. To also allow those to come forward and have the strength and courage to tell their story and to serve as an ambassador and a voice to those that have none." It's time to encourage and build each other up instead of down. Currently this is for girls between the ages of 10-19 and is ongoing. True beauty "is being able to be confident in your own skin. This doesn't mean that I love every inch of my body, but I own all of it. It's part of what makes me unique.
